Looking for family members, carers and supporters

SMART Recovery Australia

SMART Recovery Australia is providing free workshops for the family, friends and supporters of people managing behaviours of concern. The SMART Family & Friends program is intended to enable and enhance coping, and improve resilience and wellbeing. It helps supporters to find the motivation to change, engage in self-care, challenge thinking and communicate assertively. More information about the program can be found here.

We are excited to announce that up to 12 new workshops will be available in the first part of 2022. Workshops will be provided by a range of facilitators in a variety of online and face-to-face locations (dates and times to be confirmed).

SMART Recovery Australia has trained 24 new facilitators as part of a research project funded by the Alcohol and Drug Foundation. This project aims to improve the availability of the SMART Family & Friends program and to examine the training and support needs of facilitators. This research has been reviewed and approved by the Social Sciences Human Research Ethics Committee, Ethics Number: 2020/019.

SMART is committed to quality improvement and we want to grow our understanding of how best to support facilitators to deliver the program effectively. You can help us through your participation and learn some helpful skills along the way!

If you are interested in attending one of these new workshops, please contact us via the online form below and a researcher will contact you to discuss the SMART Family & Friends program and answer any questions you may have.
