Judson Brewer: Breaking Bad Habits and the Psychology of Addiction

In this informative video, psychiatrist Judson Brewer goes in depth with a critical early stage of the recovery journey: examining your own thoughts, feelings, and actions to begin taking control of the behaviour.

The principles he outlines here in layman’s terms are a major facet of the Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, or CBT, techniques, that we use in our meetings. Simply by being curious about our behaviour, we can begin to diverge from the behaviour that doesn’t make us happy, and consciously go about engaging in behaviour that does.
