At SMART Recovery, we help people achieve their behavioural change goals around any behaviours of concern.
Whilst these behaviours can often involve alcohol or drug use, people also come to SMART meetings wanting to change behaviours such as online shopping, sex, gaming and screen use.
These are just some examples of ‘addictive’ behaviours that don’t obviously have a chemical basis.
An addiction is something that’s really hard to stop. It involves a combination of both psychological and physical elements that lead to habitual patterns of behaviour and feelings of ‘need’ or ‘dependence’ on a substance, object or activity.
In this webinar, we take a deeper dive into the psychological side of addiction and also look at the power of emotions in addiction.
