Read our Annual Report

Thank you for your support of SMART Recovery Australia,

There is great possibility in our country right now and there is great possibility at SMART Recovery.

It was wonderful to share with you our first Annual Report and our new Strategic Plan.

A Strategic Plan that is unapologetically bold.

Under our new Strategic Plan Our Ambition is by 2027 to grow from supporting 2,000 people weekly to 10,000. To go from delivering over 200 meetings weekly to holding 1,000 meetings. To be Australia’s first choice in mutual support.

Every year roughly half a million Australians cannot access the treatment and support they need and deserve, while 145,000+ are arrested for drug use. However in Australia law enforcement consumes 61 to 69 per cent of the total drug budget, and treatment a mere 20 to 23 per cent.

Our number 1 priority under our new Strategic Plan is to diversify our funding. We aim to secure long term government funding because put simply we need sustained funding for sustained outcomes. We know from the National Institute on Drug Abuse that for every dollar spent on treatment, up to $7 is saved. For every dollar spent on harm reduction we save $27.

A big thank you to all of our Members, facilitators and partners who this year supported over 2000 Australians struggling with problematic behaviors and addiction.
