Everything We Think We Know About Addiction Is Wrong | Video

When we consider addiction, many people’s first impulses are to blame the drugs and those who decide to take them. But as this new animated video from In a Nutshell points out, it’s really not that simple. The video uses everything from Bruce Alexander’s ’Rat Park’ study, drug addicted Vietnam soldiers and even elderly people recovering from hip surgery, to stitch together a compelling case as to why drugs aren’t actually the cause of addiction. Furthermore, it explains that waging a war on drug offenders doesn’t work and actually exacerbates their addiction problems.
