How can I help my participants get proof of attendance for a meeting?
We know the SMART Recovery meeting proof of attendance process can sometimes be a bit unclear — for both facilitators and participants. Here’s some key info and links to help make things easier in your meetings.
What is Pathcheck?
Pathcheck is the online tool participants use to get a certificate of attendance after a SMART meeting. It’s especially helpful for those who need proof for court, parole, job agencies or support programs.
What can you do as a facilitator?
You don’t need to do much — but two small actions make a big difference:
-
Share the 6-character Pathcheck code in the Zoom chat. You’ll find it on your meeting’s page in Pathminder, just under the Pathcheck logo.
-
Remind participants to use the same name and email when signing up and attending — that’s how the system matches them correctly. Also let them know that certificates are only available for one week, so it’s best to access Pathcheck soon after the meeting.
You can also drop this link in the chat to help them get started:

That’s it! No need to follow up or collect anything — just sharing the code and a quick reminder usually does the trick.
How does it work for participants?
-
They create a free Pathcheck account.
-
After attending a meeting, they go to the Pathcheck website and enter the 6-character code.
-
If they attended at least 75% of the meeting, their attendance will be verified automatically.
-
They can download their certificate — or even email it directly to a case manager or court officer.
Need help?
If a participant is stuck, the best option is to contact Pathcheck’s customer support directly — they’re usually quick to respond and can resolve most issues fast.

Thanks again for helping make this process smooth and stress-free — that little code in the chat can go a long way! We really appreciate your ongoing support and dedication to the SMART community.
