General Information
Here is some information about SMART Recovery, what our meetings are, and what you can expect.
General:
SMART Recovery is a free mutual-aid program run weekly assisting any problematic behaviours, including addiction to drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, gambling, food, shopping, Internet and others. Participants come to help themselves and each other using a variety of cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and motivational tools and techniques.
The programme can be applied to any addictive behaviour and you will discuss coping with urges, maintaining motivation, problem solving & creating lifestyle balance. You will learn techniques such as weighing up the pros and cons of your behaviour, triggers and consequences and goal setting.
Finding a Meeting:
Please view our listings page here, enter your suburb/area and for best results use the filter options i.e. online or in-person, type of audience such as Women's only or LGBTQI+ etc, kilometre distance proximity, type of program such as Youth or Family & Friends etc
For online meetings: please pre-register by selecting the ‘Register’ button, follow the prompts to fill out your details, then you will receive an automated email with a zoom link to click on at the respective day/time.
For in person meetings: whilst pre-registration is not always required, we do recommend contacting the facilitator directly via the contact information in the appropriate meeting listing (typically is an email address) to confirm if the group is running and what restrictions may apply etc.
