SMART Donation for SMART from the Run Melbourne

Hi folks,

I just wanted to drop you all a quick message to say Thank You.

Thank you Russell, Chitiur and Jerran for being silly enough to say yes when I asked you to do this with me.

Thank you Karen over at SMART HQ for putting up with my badgering emails and helping me get the everyday hero site set up.

But most of all, thank you to everyone that’s sponsored us. With your help, we’ve currently raised $974 for SMART. If the Autodesk donators use the companies charity matching programme, this could well rise to around $1,400. I’m both gobsmacked and humbled by your generosity guys, I really am!

The day didn’t exactly go according to plan… Jerran’s doctors advised him not to take part after an old injury flared up in training. Marathon runner Russell wasn’t happy with his result (personally, if I had done it in 53 mins after zero training, I’d be over the moon!). When I found Chitiur at the finish line he looked dazed and confused and was mumbling something about having lost his friends.

For me, it was without doubt the worse run I’ve had in the last couple of months. I busted my knee pretty bad at around the 3km mark, meaning I looked more like John Cleese doing his Ministry of funny walks routine than someone who’s spent the last 12 weeks training. It also meant I came nowhere near my target time – never mind, I’ll get it next time.

Once again folks: a massive thank you
– Dylan
